Meet Casey

Casey Ruffin, M.S., CCC-SLP

Speech Language Pathologist

AAC Specialist

Hi! I'm Casey, a Speech Language Pathologist and AAC Specialist in San Francisco, California. My early childhood started out in the Bay Area and then moved down to San Diego. From there I ventured to the University of Connecticut for my Bachelor's degree where I studied Communication Sciences and Disorders alongside Psychology. I moved back to California for my Master's program in Speech Language Pathology at the University of the Pacific. Finally, I returned to the Bay Area to start out my career in late 2013. I have experience treating both children and adults in a variety of settings including: home health, hospitals, private clinics, and schools.

As humans, we are social beings and we connect with each other through communication. While communication includes speech and language, those are not the only aspects. I started Boldly Communicating as a practice that focuses on the broader goal of communication for human connection. Communication First! For some, this might mean learning an alternative to speech, such as a speech generating device; others might be working on improving their sound production; some may be  learning to combine words; and so on, with people working on skills everywhere in-between with as many combinations as needed. While each person comes to me with their own unique skill set and challenges, all share the goal of improving their ability to communicate with others successfully. The goal of Boldly Communicating is help clients feel empowered to communicate with confidence in whatever form is most effective for them today while working towards improving their skills for tomorrow.

I have always been drawn to helping others, which in turn has offered me the opportunity to listen to and learn from a diverse crowd of people who are unlike myself, giving me a great appreciation for life and human connection. I am so grateful for all of the relationships and partnerships I've been fortunate to have throughout my life and career so far, and I am very much looking forward to connecting with you!

Casey is a licensed Speech Language Pathologist in the state of California and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
